Pre-Fall Highlights at LB Entertainment

Welcome to our latest news and pre-fall highlights!

Our story

Charting the course

2021 marks LB Entertainment’s 15 year Anniversary. It has been an exciting journey, filled with music, friendships, and wonderful clients! As a valued and trusted event entertainment partner, LB Entertainment has provided live music entertainment and engaged audiences at some of the most distinguished venues in the Philadelphia area for many social and private events, stage performances, and corporate events for leading organizations.

As we embraced new challenges over the last 18 months due to the pandemic, we also gained new perspectives and insights. We look forward to continuing creating new opportunities and exploring collaboration for in-person, hybrid, or virtual events.

Live music is back

Live music is back! After a summer of cautious reopening and amid an ever-shifting pandemic landscape, Live music and the experience of communal live performances are returning. It’s a sheer pleasure for the musicians to perform again and share their artistry in front of a live audience. It’s equally pleasurable for the returning audience.

Laurent is enjoying the opportunity to lend his musical sound on sax and clarinet to perform contemporary jazz, New Orleans, Caribbean, African jazz, reggae, R&B, calypso, with talented musicians for many occasions. Over the last few months, he had the great opportunity to play for outdoor concerts, weddings, private events, cocktail lounges, restaurants, and senior living communities. We extend our gratitude to our musician friends for booking these performances: Paul Downie, Executive Director at Community Arts Center, and drummer; bassist Bert Harris and guitarist Jocko MacNelly.

Event Spotlight: Philly’s Jazz Trifest (July 9, 10, 11)

The 8th Annual Producer’s Guild & CEC Philly Jazz Trifest produced by Philly’s veteran jazz producer Leo Gadson and held at Community Education Center https://www.cecarts.org/ , presented 3 days of sublime jazz performances with some of Philadelphia’s finest musicians and groups.

Laurent performed on tenor saxophone and percussion with Bert Harris and the Afro Jazz Gumbo band, paying homage to the great South African Jazz composers. The band featured tunes by South African legendary composers Abdullah Ibrahim, Winston Ngozi, Bheki Mseleku, Ibrahim Khalil Shihab and American jazz composers McCoy Tyner and Jackie McClean.

Members of the band included stellar musicians: Bert Harris (double bass), Laurent Bass (tenor saxophone and percussion), David Fiskin (alto saxophone), David Dzubinski (piano), Pio Voluntad (drums) and Karen Smith (djembe and congas).

Connecting Art and Business – Arts + Business Council Artist Directory

We and Laurent Bass Music Collective are honored to be included in the Arts + Business Council of Greater Philadelphia’s  newly launched Artist Directory https://artsbusinessphl.org/artist-directory/ .

The Arts + Business Council’s Artist Directory provides the Greater Philadelphia creative community with the opportunity to market their work to area businesses for team meetings, corporate events, or any gathering that could be enhanced through an arts experience, display, or entertainment.

The Artist Directory includes local artists from the Greater Philadelphia region and provides a platform for businesses and patrons of the arts to connect with the region’s talented artists. Please click here for the direct link to Laurent Bass Music Collective:

We appreciate Arts + Business Council’s initiative in fostering further engagement between the creative community and businesses. We look forward to offering our talent and exploring new collaborative projects.

Partnering with the Meeting and Event Industry – Joining the conversation

MPI Global and MPI Philadelphia Chapter  have provided innumerable resources and support to its members during the pandemic while focusing on the return of face-to-face meetings. Laurent recently attended MPI PHL Chapter’s August meeting, their first “in person” meeting since the pandemic. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect – and reconnect – with many industry professionals and event designers from our area and learn more about the latest news and trends in the Live event and hospitality industry.

September Highlights

September Updates from LB Entertainment

Greetings. Welcome to our latest updates.

Jazz Philadelphia Summit 2020, October 9 and 10 – “Resilience”

Jazz Philadelphia Summit https://jazzphiladelphia.org/ brings together musicians, educators, industry professionals, fans, and some of the most innovative thinkers in the jazz scene for two days of music and discovery. We will be attending the 2020 Summit that will be presented virtually on October 9 and 10.

In view of the incredible challenges and adversity that confront musicians and the music industry, this year’s theme is “Resilience”. Resilience in the sense of “getting through and emerging stronger on the other side as a community”, a theme that will resonate with many.

Award-winning musician Terri Lyne Carrington will be the keynote speaker.  Other presenters and performers include:

George Burton . Vijay Iyer . Orrin Evans . Monnette Sudler . Michelle Lordi . Aaron Graves . Tony Miceli . Michael O’Bryan . Michael Kline . Mark Christman . John Ernesto . Emmet Cohen . Dr. Ron McCurdy . Denny Santangini . Carol Riddick . Anthony Tidd . Aalyah Duncan.

“Emergence” – A new composition by MïxT BeatZ and Laurent Bass

In my own words:

As a musician, composing music has been one of the activities that keeps me grounded during this time of quarantine. My latest composition is entitled “Emergence”, soon to be released.

Eclectic fusion and music of hope, “Emergence” is a tribute to all artists affected by adversity in this period of great challenges and transformation. “Emergence” is meant to foster hope through driving rhythm and creative arrangement. “Emergence” is an energetic positive song, dedicated to encouraging musicians and artists to stand strong and emerge stronger.

Resources and Innovative Strategies

We are pleased to join MPI Philadelphia  (Meeting Professionals International) and ILEA   (International Live Events Association) for their virtual round table discussions with industry leaders as part of their leadership and education engagement program for the event industry. We are impressed by the content of the presentations, the undeniable support and strategic resilience that these organizations offer amid these unprecedented and difficult times.

Music provides a space for reflection, inspiration, enjoyment, and getting re-energized. We love music. We love entertainment. While we confront COVID-19, we continue to explore the best way to perform in collaboration with other event professionals and musical artists.

We look forward to safely return and share our music in front of a live audience.

With warmest regards.
